Introduction
Growing up with a father who was seldom at home and a mother who had to raise two kids on her own was not easy. My brother, Tree, was only 10 years old when our father had to work in another country, leaving us with a lot of responsibilities. I grew up watching my mother struggle to make ends meet while taking care of us, and I admire her for being so strong and dedicated to the family. In this article, I will share some of the challenges and experiences that we went through as a family and how we were able to overcome them.
A Mother's Sacrifice
My mother worked hard to provide for our family. She had to juggle multiple jobs to make sure that we had everything we needed. She was our caretaker, our protector, and our provider. As a result, she hardly had enough time for herself. She would wake up early in the morning to make us breakfast and prepare us for school. After dropping us off at school, she would head to work and only come back late at night. Despite being exhausted, she still managed to help us with our homework and talk to us about our day. She gave up so much for our sake, and we are forever grateful for her love and sacrifices.
The English Class Incident
One day, when my brother Tree was in primary school, he came home with tears in his eyes. He had been scolded by his English teacher for not doing his homework. In a fit of anger, he hit the English class representative and was sent to the principal's office. When my mother found out what had happened, she calmly told Tree to stay in his room while she went to talk to the teacher and the principal.
The next day, my mother took Tree to school and apologized to the teacher and the class representative. She then went to speak with the principal and asked for leniency for her son. My mother also spoke to Tree and reminded him that he should never resort to violence to solve his problems and that he should always strive to be better.
Organizing the Kitchen
My mother was a neat freak and loved to keep the house tidy. She had always wanted to renovate the kitchen and make it more organized. One day, when she managed to save up enough money, she decided to buy an organizing system from a famous furniture brand called "Ou Pai." She spent the whole day putting the kitchen together and was extremely happy with the result.
When my father came back home and saw the newly organized kitchen, he was impressed. He had always underestimated my mother's capabilities and had never thought much of her organizational skills. When he saw the kitchen, he realized how much my mother had done for the family and how much she had sacrificed for our sake.
The Significance of Comics
Growing up, my brother and I loved to read comics. Our favorites were the ones from "Bao Zi Man Hua," a humorous and entertaining comic series. We were fascinated by the colorful drawings, funny jokes, and interesting storylines. Comics were an escape for us, and they allowed us to go on adventures and have fun. My mother loved seeing us happy, and she would often buy us the latest editions of the comic series.
Today, I still love to read comics, and I attribute my love for them to my mother. She taught us the significance of finding joy in simple things and enjoying life to the fullest.
Conclusion
Growing up with a mother who had to raise two kids on her own was difficult, but it taught us important life lessons. We learned the value of hard work, perseverance, sacrifice, and love. My mother's unwavering dedication to our family has left a lasting impression on us, and we are grateful for all that she has done. From the English class incident to organizing the kitchen and even reading comics, my mother has taught us to enjoy life and find happiness in the little things.
